PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha Provides Laptop Assistance, Supports Dreams of Underprivileged Prospective Doctors at UB

Malang – An inspiring story comes from Putri Caesal Prisilia (17), a prospective student of the Faculty of Medicine, Brawijaya University, from Malang City. Despite coming from a low-income family, with her father working as a batagor seller, Putri managed to break through the tight selection process at UB through the SNBP pathway, an extraordinary achievement that caught the attention of the university.

On Thursday (07/18), Putri received comprehensive educational assistance, including a laptop unit from PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha. This assistance was the result of collaboration between UB, BAZIS UB, and BMU. The handover was conducted directly at Putri's residence in Bunulrejo, Malang City, by the Director of Finance and Risk Management of PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha, Lalu Roby Rajafi, S.E., M.Ak., together with Vice Rector I of UB, Prof. Imam.

Lalu Roby Rajafi explained that the provision of the laptop is an integral part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program run by PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha. "We are committed to continuously synergize with the university to provide benefits to the community," he said, emphasizing the company's active role in supporting education.

In addition to the laptop from BMU, the assistance received by Putri also includes a cash scholarship of Rp3 million from BAZIS UB, as well as conveniences such as deferment and reduction of Single Tuition Fee (UKT) payments from the campus. The handover was witnessed by Putri's parents and university representatives.

Putri was never afraid to dream big in education, despite facing economic limitations. Since high school, she actively participated in various competitions and received affirmative assistance. Her love for Biology and Science drove her to choose UB's Faculty of Medicine as a stepping stone to her medical career.

"At first, I was hopeless, because medicine is expensive. 'Can I really become a doctor from a small family like this?' Actually, entering UB was also a desperate act; I just registered to try," Putri said, recalling her initial doubts.

Prof. Imam, Vice Rector I of UB, stated that the scholarship is a form of UB's appreciation for Putri's spirit and achievements. "UB wants to ensure that every outstanding prospective student from underprivileged families can continue their education without being hindered by economic factors," he asserted. He also emphasized the importance of synergy between universities, the business world, and zakat institutions in supporting inclusive and equitable education. "This synergy is expected to open up more opportunities for potential young generations," he added.

Putri expressed her deep gratitude for this assistance. She hopes to complete her medical education smoothly and eventually contribute meaningfully in the health sector, whether to the university through research and development, or to the community and her family. Putri's father also expressed his thanks to Brawijaya University, BAZIS UB, and PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha for the support provided. He hopes this assistance will be a good first step for his daughter's future.
