Brawijaya University Becomes a Legal Entity State University (PTNBH)
Brawijaya University (UB), which was established on January 5, 1963, has now changed its status to a State University with Legal Entity based on Government Regulation Number 108 of 2021 concerning the State University with Legal Entity of Brawijaya University dated October 18, 2021. The Government Regulation signed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, mandates UB as a State University with Legal Entity that manages academic and non-academic fields autonomously.

Implementation of Rector’s Regulation No. 43 of 2023
In mid-2023, in accordance with Brawijaya University Rector's Regulation Number 43 of 2023 concerning UB-Owned Enterprises, BPU, as the sole manager of UB's business units, became a revenue generator capable of achieving this goal. Initially, BPU consisted of four Business Entities: Academic Business Entity, Non-Academic Business Entity, Health Business Entity, and Expertise Business Entity. These four Business Entities have distinct core businesses, including non-academic areas, academic areas such as research and laboratories, health, and expertise areas such as consulting.
Implementation of Rector’s Regulation No. 43 of 2023
In mid-2023, in accordance with Brawijaya University Rector's Regulation Number 43 of 2023 concerning UB-Owned Enterprises, BPU, as the sole manager of UB's business units, became a revenue generator capable of achieving this goal. Initially, BPU consisted of four Business Entities: Academic Business Entity, Non-Academic Business Entity, Health Business Entity, and Expertise Business Entity. These four Business Entities have distinct core businesses, including non-academic areas, academic areas such as research and laboratories, health, and expertise areas such as consulting.
Establishment of PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha
As a realization of the mandate of PTNBH status, on January 9, 2024, PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha was officially established, which was authorized through the Decree of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights No. AHU-0004492.AH.01.11 of 2024 and is 100% owned by Universitas Brawijaya. This entity exists as a holding company tasked with managing commercial assets and business units professionally, separate from the academic realm, in order to realize the university's sustainable financial independence.
Establishment of PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha
As a realization of the mandate of PTNBH status, on January 9, 2024, PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha was officially established, which was authorized through the Decree of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights No. AHU-0004492.AH.01.11 of 2024 and is 100% owned by Universitas Brawijaya. This entity exists as a holding company tasked with managing commercial assets and business units professionally, separate from the academic realm, in order to realize the university's sustainable financial independence.

Embracing the spirit of Growth and Prosper Together, PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha continues to accelerate its business growth. In 2025, the company's presence will be strengthened with the synergy of 14 Business Units operating across various business lines and the birth of a new entity, PT Brawijaya Core Indonesia, which operates in the training and consulting sector. These entities will act as new driving forces in the university's business ecosystem.

At the beginning of 2026, PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha undertook a strategic step in the form of organizational restructuring to enhance efficiency, synergy, and business development focus. A total of 14 Strategic Business Units (SBUs) that previously operated independently have now been consolidated into a cluster system based on their respective core businesses. This transformation resulted in 4 Main Clusters, namely Brawijaya Hospitality and Services, Brawijaya Food and Beverage, Brawijaya Business Innovation, and Brawijaya EduSport, along with 1 Special Cluster. Through this new governance structure, PT BMU is expected to operate more resiliently, adaptively, and competitively in optimizing business potential to sustainably support the financial independence of Universitas Brawijaya.
