One Year in Operation, PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha Optimistic to Achieve Revenue of IDR 200 Billion by 2028
Malang – PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha celebrated its first anniversary with optimism. The company recorded an impressive performance in its first year, focusing on business development to support university revenue. At the Dies Natalis celebration held at Building F, FEB UB on Thursday (9/01/25), President Director of PT BMU, Dr. Edi Purwanto, revealed that the company's revenue in 2024 reached IDR 42.5 billion, a 27 percent increase compared to 2023. This achievement is notable given that PT BMU has only been operating for a year. In addition to revenue growth, PT BMU also managed to save nearly IDR 5 billion in expenses throughout 2024.
"Our hope, in line with the company's vision, is that PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha becomes a healthy, professional, high-performance company to become the main pillar of Universitas Brawijaya's revenue," said Dr. Edi. He added that IDR 6 billion of the total 2024 revenue has been contributed to the university.
For 2025, PT BMU targets revenue of IDR 55 billion and has a vision to increase revenue to IDR 200 billion by 2028. To achieve this ambitious target, PT BMU will expand its business beyond the campus. Expansion plans include opening UB Coffee branches in strategic locations such as Purwosari Toll Road, Mojokerto Toll Road, UB Jakarta Campus, and Jagorawi Toll Road.
Currently, PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha manages 11 diverse business units, including:
UB Coffee
UB Guest House
Griya UB
UB Merchandise and Creative
UB Kantin
Brawijaya Language Center
UB Sport Center
Brawijaya Tour and Travel
Brawijaya Science and Technology
Brawijaya Catering
LPH UB
In addition, during the Dies Natalis, PT BMU also launched two new business units: Brawijaya Outsourcing (BOS) and Brawijaya Kos Management, which will later become Brawijaya Property and Advertising (Brave). These new units will optimize market opportunities, including managing contract employees at UB and the potential of student boarding house businesses. Besides the café sector, PT BMU also plans to manage outsourcing services within UB. This step includes contract workers and cleaning services.
"Currently, there are three types of employees at UB: permanent civil servants, permanent non-civil servants, and contract employees. We will take over the management of contract workers and cleaning services to ensure better efficiency and service quality," said Edi.
UB Rector, Prof. Widodo, emphasized the importance of the business role for universities in the current era. He explained that universities are no longer only required to fulfill the Tri Dharma (education, research, community service), but must also be able to develop the business sector.
"Business must be good so that university finances are good. If we only rely on the state budget, it's still difficult," said Prof. Widodo. Therefore, he emphasized that universities must be able to utilize their assets for business development, one of which has been realized through PT BMU. "Going forward, we also want PT BMU to continue to grow and be present everywhere, not only on the UB campus," he added.
The first Dies Natalis of PT BMU was also symbolized by a thanksgiving ceremony of cutting tumpeng as a form of hope and prayer. During the event, PT BMU not only presented its performance but also launched the 5R Program (Concise, Neat, Clean, Care, Diligent) which will be a principle for every employee.
As a form of social concern, PT BMU also donated to the Universitas Brawijaya Endowment Fund, and provided educational and operational assistance for UB students through the Universitas Brawijaya Zakat Agency. The event concluded with the giving of appreciation and gifts to retired employees, as a thank you for their dedication and contributions.
