PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha Provides Laptop Aid, Supports Dreams of Underprivileged Future Doctor at UB

Malang – An inspiring story comes from Putri Caesal Prisilia (17), a prospective student of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya from Malang City. Despite coming from a disadvantaged family, with her father working as a batagor (fried fish cake) seller, Putri managed to pass the strict selection for UB through the SNBP pathway, an extraordinary achievement that caught the university's attention.

On Thursday (18/07), Putri received comprehensive educational assistance, including a laptop unit from PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha. This aid is the result of collaboration between UB, BAZIS UB, and BMU. The handover was carried out directly at Putri's residence in Bunulrejo, Malang City, by the Director of Finance and Risk Management of PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha, Lalu Roby Rajafi, S.E., M.Ak., together with the Vice Rector I of UB, Prof. Imam.

Lalu Roby Rajafi explained that providing this laptop is an integral part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program run by PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha. "We are committed to continuing to synergize with the university in providing benefits to the community," he said, emphasizing the company's active role in supporting education.

In addition to the laptop from BMU, the assistance Putri received also includes a cash scholarship of IDR 3 million from BAZIS UB, as well as facilities such as deferment and reduction of Single Tuition Fee (UKT) payments from the campus. The handover was also witnessed by Putri's parents and campus representatives.

Putri never hesitated to dream high in education despite facing economic limitations. Since high school, she has actively participated in various competitions and received affirmative assistance. Her love for Biology and Science motivated her to choose UB's Faculty of Medicine as a bridge to her medical career.

"At first I felt hopeless, because medicine is expensive. 'Can I become a doctor from a small family like this?' Actually, entering UB was also reckless, I registered first to try," said Putri, recalling her initial doubts.

Prof. Imam, Vice Rector I of UB, stated that providing this scholarship is a form of UB's appreciation for Putri's spirit and achievements. "UB wants to ensure that every talented prospective student from underprivileged families can continue their education without being hindered by economic factors," he asserted. He also emphasized the importance of synergy between universities, businesses, and zakat institutions in supporting inclusive and equitable education. "This synergy is expected to open up more opportunities for potential young generations," he added.

Putri expressed her deep gratitude for this assistance. She hopes to pursue her medical education smoothly and eventually contribute significantly to the health sector, both for the university through research and development, and for the community and her family. Putri's father also expressed his thanks to Universitas Brawijaya, BAZIS UB, and PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha for their support. He hopes this assistance will be a good first step for his daughter's future.
